Offering dental implant and specialist periodontal services in Richmond
To all our ‘patient’ patients:
Thank you for all your well wishes and kind messages over this dental shutdown.
For the next two days, our doors will remain closed. It is only appropriate that we provide you with an explanation.
We aim to re-open this Wednesday, when all our new protocols will have been trialled, established and implemented. This is to ensure that everyone can feel safe and comfortable.
From the start of the lock-down, we have been busy procuring PPE, believing this will be an important key factor. Despite the continuing supply chain delay, inflated costs and having to source much from overseas, we completed our logistic targets a few weeks ago. De-cluttering, cleaning the rooms, placing anti-bugs coatings and varnish on handles & surfaces, installing new protective equipment were also carried out.
Fit testing for respirators that are needed for the highest level of PPE (during current alert level), was also arranged for all staff, with physical distancing a few weeks ago.
We have also spent the past 2.5 months researching new safety measures imposed on our dental colleagues in the USA, Asia and Continental Europe.
Since the UK government’s announcement (28th May), that dental clinics may reopen from today, the 8th June, all UK dentists have been waiting with bated breath for the official guidance from the Chief Dental Officer (England). This was released on the 4th June. Since last Thursday afternoon, we have worked tirelessly to interpret the guidance (one of several 60+ paged, UK based guidelines released last week), tweaking the draft protocols & policies that we had pre-empted and had prepared earlier.
Today, on the 8th June, our Team came together for yet another group meeting and test-run. We rehearsed our final version for patient journeys and have now updated all our protocols in line with these latest dental guidelines.
We will therefore be opening our doors this Wednesday, 10th June. However, as most local media have reported and like most clinics, we can only offer a reduced range of service. This position will be reviewed regularly.
In the coming days and weeks, my team and I will be contacting you to welcome you back. We thank you for your patience and understanding, as we try our utmost to attend to your needs as promptly as we can, as cautiously as is required. Our email and telephone will continue to be manned and we will try to response to you as promptly as is possible.
On your return journey to us, you will notice some extra measures that we take to ensure your continual safety and comfort. The treatment experience you are accustomed to, will of course remain unchanged. Our airy reception room and treatment spaces will appear even more vacuous and decluttered, whilst my lockdown enhanced torso is fortunately hidden by the PPE. My team’s smiles may be hidden by masks and voices muffled by face shields. For now, physical barriers and distancing prevails but the social, professional closeness you always felt, is very much still here.
As many of you have wished for us throughout this lockdown, we too, hope that you stay happy and well. Looking forward to meeting you all soon.
Chong and the Team
Chong, our implant surgeon and periodontist, has been on the GDC specialist list since 1999. For the last two decades, he has been collaborating with dental professionals in centres of excellence in Singapore, Harley Street and, more recently, in the Richmond, Kew and Twickenham area. Chong is very well-respected by his colleagues and known as much for his implant and periodontal expertise as for his faultless ethics.
Chong has received rigorous training and is experienced in implant surgery and other advanced implant augmentation procedures such as bone grafting and sinus lifting, which help us achieve optimal clinical success. He is also heavily involved in training colleagues who are interested in improving their skills in these areas.
In additional to always learning, he actively supports continuing professional development for his colleagues and is involved in the provision of post-graduate implant education. Chong lectures regularly, both nationally and internationally, and is a speaker for the ITI, the AIC and regional dental study clubs and associations.
At Perio & Implant Dental Referral Clinic, we are specially qualified to undertake more advanced dental procedures, such as implants and periodontics. Dr Chong Lim is highly experienced and even trains others in these fields. We are happy to treat patients referred by their dentists or, alternatively, patients are welcome to self-refer for specialist treatment. We only undertake specialist treatment, returning patients to their primary dentist for ongoing and routine care.
We aim to treat all of our patients and referring dentists with the courtesy and welcoming manner that we would expect to receive ourselves, carrying out treatment in a safe and well-equipped environment and ensuring open communication at all times. We continue to pursue professional education to enable us to apply the latest techniques for your optimal benefit and we also provide dental training and education for our colleagues.
