Dr Estela Baz & impact on the quality of life.

I focus my clinical activities on the treatment of periodontitis (gum disease). This condition affects the bone and gums holding the teeth in place. Uncontrolled periodontitis leads to gum recession, loose teeth, bad breath, tooth sensitivity, difficulties in chewing and ultimately tooth loss. This can have a significant impact on the quality of life.
My aim is to provide patients with the skills necessary to arrest the progression of gum disease. We apply evidence-based gum treatment so as to retain teeth where possible. Or provide dental implants where teeth have already been lost or deemed not maintainable due to advanced bone loss.
I qualified from the University of Barcelona in 2010. During this time, I was exposed to different specialties including oral surgery, periodontics and prosthodontics. Since then, I have accumulated over ten years of extensive experience, including working in practice on the South West Coast and in Central London. To expand on my knowledge and experience, I also completed a full-time three-year Master in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) on Periodontology at the world-renowned Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. This is fully accredited by the European Federation of Periodontology.
This extensive training has enabled me to provide state of the art treatments at the highest skill level. I am therefore able to offer patients the full range of periodontal treatment options available, based on their individual needs. Such treatments include non-surgical treatment, several types of surgical procedures including bone regeneration surgery and soft tissue grafting for the treatment of recession as well as teeth replacements via dental implants.
I have been trained to use magnification in my daily practice and acknowledge the greatly improved outcomes that minimally invasive treatment techniques can provide for my patients I continue to develop my professional knowledge and enjoy teaching and supporting young dentists and hygienists through their training at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute.
The treatment and management of periodontal disease is a journey. My approach is first to listen to my patients and try to understand their concerns. From there we can develop a comprehensive treatment plan together that is tailored to their needs.
